What is the best GPU to pair with Intel i7-920?

I have Chieftec 400W and i7-920 with 4GB DDR3 RAM without option to add more RAM;
So my question is what would be the best GPU to pair with this system, also it has 2 pci-e x16 slots.

The eight year old i7-920 is equivalent to the i3-6100. Therefore I would:

* buy GTX 1060 6GB
* buy new PSU (Seasonic S1211 520 or EVGA G2/G3 550/650)
* buy 8 GB DDR3 DIMM

Note: Purchase the 1060 from a site with a no-hassle return policy, just in case it doesn't work with your X58 setup. Keep vendor and shipping box until you confirm it's working.

Hello... thx... 1) you have plenty of Ram slots... are you using a 32 bit OS version? or only 1GB sticks?
2) You have a 130watt CPU that uses +12vdc too from the PS.
3) you have a gen 2 PCI-e spec MB.

Nah, CPU controller problem or bent pins so I can use only 2nd slot and I use 1x 4GB RAM;

And I am about to spend 85 Euros, which is 10.455 dinara, 1 Euro = 123 dinars.
Could extend budget if you find something really great.

I am planning to buy some cheaper GPU but please reply me if you know will the 4GB RAM + i7-920 + GTX 960, be enough for BF1?

Hello... Your MB ram needs special low density chip, DDR3 in it... DDR3 is just a Module/circuit board/format... what gets put on them can vary... in other words, you memory problems could be the Model (chips) of DDR3 you are trying use with it... OK? use the search tools of a memory Company with X58 in it... if you wanna try 4 gb more of Ram B /

Yes I would suggest a NVidia 700 or 900 series GPU... the 960 is listed at 120 watts and could work with your PS B )

Because of the older PCI-e version of the MB... the 1050 model might be a hit or miss situation B / but Yes is another wonderful low power/Watt GPU choice.

yeah it will run it but you MUST upgrade your RAM because 4GB is too low for BF1. You need atleast 8Gigs :)

Sort of - I can negotiate, you can also use search button up to just browse cards;
I tried 1 module in every slot but it only works in 2nd from CPU;

Hello... the memory communications/configuation is stored in your CMOS memory... thus you need to remove your MB backup battery and clear your CMOS information, when working with or changing memory configurations... new CMOS memory communications/information will be created on the next Boot. B )

How much GPU you need is determined by your resolution as well as the target FPS you have in mind. The only thing the CPU is going to do is limit how high of FPS you can maintain, but as long as we are talking about 60 FPS, your resolution is what matters.

What's your resolution?

The CPU effects CPU bound areas of a game. But resolution you play it, determines how much graphics power you need for what ever settings you are after. If 60 FPS is all you are after, his CPU will get him there in most cases, with a few lows here and there (I had an i7 920 only a few months ago).

If he's after no more than 60 FPS, the resolution is all that really matters in this choice. If he's after 100+ FPS, then he simply can't get there with his CPU in many games, but I'll still need to know the resolution for his choice.

If he's using a 1080p monitor, a 1060 is the max he should go for. For 720p, then a 1050 would be enough. For 1440p, a 1070p may be worth using. For 4k, at least a 1080 would be good.

That would be the same for any CPU running at 60hz.

Edit: and based on the budget, he probably can buy the fastest GPU he can afford, unless we are talking about a very low resolution.

Thanks on telling me the strongest card that won't bottleneck with CPU, but, as I said in couple of messages above, I can have 4GB max.
