What is the best long range router?

I am planning to buy a long range router for my home. I've currently come down to Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 R700 and Asus RT-AC68U 1900. Help me choose from either two of these or suggest me a better option. My main motive is long range and reliable connect for multiple devices. I don't care about USB ports and other apps (buying it for my parents who just need connectivity throughout the house and shouldn't have to troubleshoot anything).

Brick/cement walls. Apartment style with a terrace on roof which needs wireless coverage. 2500sq
I was also looking at Asus 87u and Netgear R8000, which appear to be upgrade of the other models I mentioned, do let me know what you'll think though.

The nighthawk would be quite sufficient if even a bit overkill

If possible get the router in the middle of the space, (i.e. on 2nd floor if 2 floors+roof terrace).

What's the fascination with WiFi ??
Use powerline adapters. The various computers are going to need to be plugged into power anyway, powerline adapters put your network/Internet right there too.
