What is the best monitor for 100+ FPS gaming under $300?

I am buying a new rig soon but the thin that I have no clue what to get is the monitor.


Here is my rig:

Case: NZXT Phantom 630
CPU: i5 4670k
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X40
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2x4gb)
Optical Drive: LG CH12LS28
PSU: Corsair HX-650 v2
Video Card: ASUS GTX 780 DirectCU II OC


Please help me find a monitor that has the capability of holding the FPS that this machine would feed out and do it well and beautifully.(e.g Crysis 3 on ultra and next gen games on ultra)

Please help me find something under $300. Thanks

This is a good monitor (reasons why below)

IPS panel
LED so it has a better backlight which emits truer colours than LCD
Native resolution is 1920x1080 so you can play in full 1080p resolution (Crysis 3 would look amazing)
fast response time (less blur)

Fast refresh rate.

Plus it is under your budget which you could invest in something else.

Thankyou that is a very cool monitor but I'd like to hear what other people have to say too. I will most probably get this monitor. Only thing that doesn't apeal to me is the 27", I'd rather something like 21.5" or 24". However this looks like a spectacular monitor thanks.

Well for 100+ fps you're going to have to sacrifice some game options such as not running everything on high. Do you want a monitor to match how pretty everything looks or do you want a monitor that's really good for FPS games and will give you an edge?

You can go the IPS route like Azrael said, which gives you a much better looking game or you can go a 120 or 140hz monitor which will give you the best use of your 100+ fps.

fnatic. That second monitor is the exact same one Azrael chose. ASUS VG248QE. So I guess If you guys both chose it without even knowing you both did. I guess that is a good sign that this is the monitor for me?

yes it is really good, the features for gaming are incredible. Plus it looks good. I am stuck with this one and gaming is great on it. It all depends on how the end-user see's the detail. I went from like a 19" LCD to a 24" LED and it is superb for playing games like Borderlands, Call Of Duty, Half-Life 2 etc etc.

Uhm guys. I gotta tell you something. I live in Australia and that monitor for is $469 on the Australian website I get parts from. 🙁 I think the price is so high because it is 3D. Normally stuff is only like $60 more here
