Hello everyone,

I have a family member who currently has an i5 Sony Vaio Duo 13.

His main use is photo editing on programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator and Sai.

He want to plug an external monitor to the laptop and use it for the same photo editing and daily use (it would be plugged all time).

He wants a very big screen so he can have free space to work with all ease available and also wants A nice set of colors and quality of the screen when editing with colors and such stuff. He has no desire ever on gaming. So primarily photo editing and daily use.

I dont know which one to pick since I live outside the US and dont have many options here. I think 32'' for photo editing is really nice and appealing but dont know which resolutions is the best. To me personally, I prefer getting a 32'' monitor so photo would be bigger and easier to edit, and daily task feel better and free over 27''. I dont want to get something and the resolution and the quality is bad.

So I currently have these options with 2k and 4k (I will search more):

ASUS PB287Q 4K UHD LED MONITOR WITH 3840X2160 RESOLUTION (BLACK, 28-INCH)

BENQ EL2870U 28 INCH 4K HDR10 GAMING MONITOR, UHD 3840X2160, FREESYNC, HDMI, DP, BUILT-IN SPEAKERS

BENQ 32-INCH QUAD HIGH DEFINITION DESIGNER MONITOR (BL3200PT) FOR PHOTO EDITING, QHD 2560X1440 DISPLAY

Asus VP28UQG

LG 27UD58-B

I would really like to know in general what I should focus on, like what resolutions on what sizes are better. And is it better to downgrade the monitor size from a bigger one if the ppi is less than a smaller monitor?

He is not a proffessional photo creator. If a proffessional is 100%, then He is rated at 30-40%.

So just to make things clear here. He is doing light work on these programs I mentioned but on a 13.3'' laptop. The laptop is great but he wants a bigger screen to do the editing on it, not a need, just that he wants to upgrade to something more relaxing from a 13.3 to a 32'' or 27-28.

I dont want to get a total proffessional monitor simply because it is an overkill and he wont get any use to it because he is not into its level yet. I just want preferably good 32'' inch screen with a good and ideal resolution to get a good mixture of colors for an (average) user to deal with these programs. So it is like a 13.3'' but bumped it to 32'' only.

Also the budget is tight and I have no many options other than my retail stores here.

How about this monitor? Is it a good one?

Overall, for an average (non-proffessional) photo editor who wants a 32'' screen for more space, is it a good one to get? are there any notes about it?

Also is 1440p on a 32'' good? and is 4k on 27'' and 28'' good?

If the primary usage is photo editing, then the first thing I recommend looking for in a monitor is that the panel type is IPS. This type has superior color accuracy, view angles and contrast over TN. Compared to a VA monitor, it still has better color and viewing angles while coming in second in contrast. The contrast difference is not too important for photo editing. From the monitors you listed above, that leaves only the LG 27UD58-B.

In reference to screen size, you want to look for a monitor that is at least 27". In reference to resolution, the higher resolution is always better.

You may also want to pay attention to the monitor's connectivity. For example, the LG 27UD58-B has 2 HDMI 2.0 and 1 DisplayPort 1.2 inputs. Is the source able to connect to this monitor? Will it require an adapter?

The LG is the best choice out of the monitors you listed. If you have any other monitors you wish to compare, then you are welcome to post them.
