Does anyone know the real difference between the Quadro2 and the Ultra?
If I am to listen to the people who say they can change almost any Ultra geforce2 into a quadro2 by using simple soldering techniques, then I should be able to use ELSA's quadro2 drivers on them because according to these people who modify their boards, the two boards are both Nvidia reference design and are identical except for the fact that quadro2 runs on a higher core voltage, and that they say can be changed easyly?

Anyone know the truth behind this? Is Elsa ripping ppl off by charging them 1000 bucks for a ripped geforce2 Ultra?

It's true. Any nVidia GeForce2 based board (even the MX!) can be changed into a Quadro by re-soldering some resistors. I've never tried it, but there are plenty of sites on the net explaining the process. Ask yourself though - do you really need to bother? The Quadro is no better in 3D games, and unless you want to do advanced workstation CAD then possibly damaging the board is not worth it.

BTW, it's not just ELSA, all the Quadro manufacturers are ripping people off.
