What is the red light on the back of my internet cable?

When i plug an Network cable in the back of my pc it lights up red,
I am custom to it being green.
Does the red refer to the internet speed?
Or is it just the color?

depends on the led of the mb or Ethernet card. most new cards have two led. one for cable sence (link) and one for when data is moving. (ping). most time one led on all the time and one will be blinking.

You need to check the manual for your motherboard to determine link speed colors. Typically though green is gigabit, amber is 100, and no light is 10. At least every switch and computer I've owned are that way.
