Hello

I have been reading reviews about the asus maximus viii hero
And someone said he had one with deffective southbridge and that it had terrible onboard audio
I would like to know if his audio was messed up because he had a deffective southbridge or thoes have nothing to do with each other?

Thank you for your help

The south bridge is connected with the internal audio card, but I don't know how much it affects it, obviously someone could have had a defective model, Dunno I own the MAximus VIII hero and I have no problems at all, in fact my audio quality has improved quite a bit vs my old Z77 motherboard.

So if you're looking to buy, I wouldn't look further, the Maximus Hero is one of the best price-quality motherboards out there, and it's definitly recommended for Ocing

But the gigabyte z170 gaming 7 has a bit more
Intel +killer nik
2 m.2 slots
Dual bios
Pcie metal shielding
Quadcore audio
Turbo b-clock
(Hdmi 2.0)
And it costs the same :/
The thing is i still would like to buy asus even thou it doesnt seem like a clever move this is my first chanse to own a rog thats why i dont know 😀

i have looked a fair bit as trying to talk myself into upgrading to skylake but my current set up is still pretty good so cant quite pull the trigger on upgrade

my 3 choices were gigabyte z170 gaming 7,asus deluxe or asrock overclock formula

asrock being interesting as some of their boards are sporting 3 m2 slots

I dont really like asrock boards i had bad experience with them
The asus deluxe is too expensive for me
My a6 5400k is quiet good even on stock speed but i think it just might lack a bit behind an i7 6700k if you know what i mean xD
You know its not that big of a cpu upgrade next to my new high end gpu but i think it will do 😀

gigabyte z170 gaming 7 may be your best choice in that price bracket

i am still on a 4/5 year old 2600k heavily overclocked

and to be honest other than boot support for an m2 this still cuts it today--cpus just havent advanced hugely in the last 5 years like gpus have
