I recently had my new pc built, and in the box with all the other cd's etc theres a smallish crossfire chip, I have no idea what it is for!!

On the top side it just says Cross Fire, underside is copper color with plugs at either end, abit larger than a usb size, and in the middle it says Wieson 94V-0, 0840, G9016-01, CT-1, E309144, 109 A91830-00B
And at the end of it is says J2A also,

My Pc guy is on a holiday so i cant ring him, Im worried hes left some part off it that should be on it?
Overall size is about as big as a standard usb storage device if that helps.

Typical girl question I know 🙂

OMG yes it does look exactly like that?!! What is it?>

Edit, Helps if I read it, Its some sort of pairing thingy ? So If i get another video card I can join them up or something?

I wanna see what Ive got now, cant be stuffed typing it all in though :-(

Your 4850 is a graphics card/video card. It has its own RAM/memory, which is separate from your computer memory. Sometimes, there are options that allow your graphics card to use its own memory, as well as borrow some memory from your computer memory.

As for your original question, what you have there is a "crossfire connector." It is a device that connects two graphics cards (ie. two ATI4850s) in what is known as a "crossfire" ability.

Long story short, crossfire allows you to hook up two video cards to act as a single, more powerful video card.

Hi & thanks,
Im running 64 bit Vista home premium.

I tried ringing the computer guy but hes not sure

DEdit, I finally updated to SP2 and now Its saying 8 gb & 8bg, not 8gb & 4gb as before......

Seems to of been fixed with the update which took me like a week to get.
They did warn me Vista was glitchy

If you get a chance to get Windows 7, it's great. Improved on most of windows Vistas flaws but keeps the benefits. (with my 8GB RAm, I was using about 26% of RAM just after booting into Vista ultimate, about 14% with 7)
