I have a HP dv2700 special edition laptop. I was playing a game and it froze and had little patches of green lines across the screen. Then it unfroze and I kept playing the game. Then it happend again and I tryed rebooting my laptop and the screen was blank. I replaced the lcd screen, but that did not fix the problem. The backlight works. Could it be my graphics card? Or something simple? please help Thank You.

First of all please don't make 2 threads with one subject :) i deleted the other one.
Well does it happen in one specific game or it happens in all games that you play ? also have you tried updating your VGA driver ?

Sorry about that, it was an accedent. It never happend before it only happend once and the screen has been blank ever since. I can't see anything on my laptop so I don't think I could update anything. Unless there is a different way of updating a driver.

Your laptop has the 8400GS graphics chip, yes?
Some of the Nvidia 8-series notebook GPUs had a problem with their soldering or something... point being, they failed after a certain amount of use. A lot of people weren't too happy about that. Google around on the topic of Nvidia 8-series failures and you can learn more about that... Your problem might be related.
But your problem may not be at all connected. Notebook GPUs live in dangerous conditions, and it's possible that it just overheated and died.

Does the laptop seem to boot up otherwise? as in, does the hard drive activity light come on, does it seem to load Windows, etc.

It might be a 8600 GTS I can't remember, but yeah I think its the graphic chip. The laptop seems to boot up fine. I can hear the little sound of Windows Vista when it boots up. Just nothing shows up just the backlight from the screen. Would this be an easy fix or is it going to be pretty expensive? If I would get a new graphics card equal to the Nvidia 8600 but maybe a different brand.

Well my laptop isn't under warranty anymore. I'm not sure if the graphic card is or not. How could I find out if it's under warranty?

nvidia chipset? I would see if your model is under the extended warranties HP is offering due to the gpu overheating issues. Def GPU related. I work in a laptop repair shop and have seen so many issues with the HP DV series. When we see one now the first thing we do is check to see if its under the extended warranty. Get an ASUS laptop. I love mine. plus the 1 year accidental damage warranty is great!
