Question What is wrong with my monitor?

I have BenQ XL2720Z monitor for like 7 years. Now the monitor is showing a few blurry lines and distorted text in more than half of the screen. How can it be fixed?

I would test with another monitor to eliminate the GPU, but if it is the monitor, time to replace it.

It's just the monitor and it's not connected to the computer in the pic. Is there anything that can fix this? or is it dead?

When you connect to the pc does the monitor work properly?
That is what counts.

I suspect the monitor is failing and needs to be replaced.

It doesn't work even when connected to the computer. So, I think my monitor is dead.

I think so because the lines are not static. Rather they fluctuate. I remember that when I used to tilt the monitor, the monitor would switch off weirdly even after the cord being plugging properly in.

Is there anyway I can check and fix this?

Not without opening up the monitor which is not very safe due to voltages.
I would see if a electronic repair shop is close by. They can probably check it rather cheap.

Even if you know waht you are looking for you might not find it without the right equipment.
