please help me i need a solution! my drivers are updated, its not overheating, FYI, its a laptop, dell xps. my cpu is intel core i7 2.20 GHz 8gigs of ram, there is nothing wrong with my pc! have i got a lemon-of-a-laptop or something? plz reply

My specs: Manufacturer: Dell. CPU: Intel core i7 RAM: 8gb. OS: windows 7 professional service pack 1. system: 64 bit At first I thought it might be a heat problem, but I haven't confirmed that it isn't, Ive also went to the start menu, typed "CPU" and clicked "advanced system settings" and in performance settings, I clicked adjust for best performance, I saw this suggestion on a different web page, didn't work

its not a desktop, its a laptop, I also cleaned the cooling fan, it was grey before and it is now black, didn't work though. and as for the amd driver, I don't thing it worked properly. Sorry I don't know much about pc's and drivers, but, is an amd driver a bad thing? And last but not least, (this is defying your last statement) a lot of suggestions on the internet say to fix the problem, I need to increase the GPU timeout, if this is a good idea, how do I do it?

and also, (its weird i didn't know this) my CPU is a quad core, I only found out last time I used core temp. another question, would a graphics processor effect the freezing problem? if so which one should I use: High-performance NVIDIA processor, the Ge-force auto select processor, or integrated graphics processor?

I posted the laptop model in my first post on this, xps. Plus, I started having the freezing problem out of sight about a year ago, playing minecraft. I notice that with minecraft it has only ever frozen mid-pullback on an enchanted bow, there was also a global problem with enchantment frame-rate lag, especially with the bow, could the freezing and global enchantment-caused lag be linked? could the freezing just be frame-rate lag that lasts for a few days? But another thing, if that's the case, its only with minecraft. With steam games, the frozen frame also comes with a frozen instance of sound, making a "du du du du du du" sound, after about 10 seconds of thing, its a fuzzy sound. There are a lot of forums about this problem but no-one has a solution. could this sort of freezing be doing damage to my laptop? I don't understand what could be causing it! Its really frustrating! And also, tell other people about this post, I'd like to hear what they have to say about this.

OK, Ive been doing some research, and I'm actually convinced its the Power Supply Unit (PSU). is there anyway to identify my PSU and the wattage on a laptop? I'm not sure if its that easy to get a new PSU on a laptop.
