Sorry SoDnighhawk, that particular was not meant for you. It is actually for "everyone" who has been flaming each other. I just clicked on the reply button and type. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

No I used a 25 foot Lufkin Contractors tape and did not even touch the monitor it was an average measurement. 17 and 1/2 at the most.

I could dig the manual out but it proly lies about the veiwable size anyways but if I come across the manual I will read it again.

It is downstairs with the 20 feet stack of computer boxes, games hardware.

All I have at my computer desk is the CD's I moved every empty box to the corner of my basement.

At least this settle the CPU and memory portion of the question. The question remaining is the video card. I will find out what kind of software she will be using and then, I guess, you guys will know what kind of video card is best for her.

The problem here is that even a fairly weak card is very good for 2D design. So you have to consider what ELSE she might be doing as well.

Tom's claims to have found an 8500 128MB card for $52. Heck, it wasn't even the cheaper LE version, at least according to the list. This would actually be a GREAT card for 2D rendering, and at a very low price.

The neat trick you can do with the highlight option is to open it up full screen so when you are gaming you can lighten up even the darkest games or maps online in multiplayer and see the bad guys hiding in the shadows before they can see you.
I thought you were the gamers gamer,

If you want a real gaming monitor & not play with some phony "neat trick" monitor, go look at a real gaming monitor here.
Notice this: I'm cutting & pasting this:
2 brightness modes for work and play
For work, engage normal mode to see text and spreadsheets with perfect clarity.
For play, engage UltraBrite mode and step into high brightness entertainment for Internet, gaming, TV and video applications.
Yea, it's a button on the front of the monitor that you simply push as you go into a game, it has the same feature built right in as the "neat trick". There is also a whole line built off the + technology for gaming I've been running for a year now.

Course it's a gamers choice monitor, which I though you knew all about IMO, Huh!

Religion is stupid but it serves as a great weapon.
Let's trick a room full of 50 illiterate people tell them that their book of god said to not only sacrifice their very own lives, but in return attack anyone who attempts to hold their land.
The smartest of smart bombs. Humans.

If everyone in America copied and pasted so mindlessly we would be in the same predicament. Real pioneers in technology build their knowledge off fact to eventually stray away from it. Our brain is a great tool and it's a shame to let it go to waste on simply copying and pasting.

A nice little side note: Spreading misleading information is another tool that BUSH, Regan and the entire UN practice. Why those didn't pop in your mind as fast as Hitler and Marx shows your mental conditioning.
Going off on a real far side note: Isn't america the one launching numerous "information and communication" satelites.. and aren't all of our phone conversations being listened into?
.... although i don't mind i have nothing to hide, maybe a few stories of under age drinking back in the day or ripping the tag's off of my matress....

After all that said i'm happy to live here in America, i could be a fool launching myself at buildings over a religion due to illeteracy.

That viewsonic ,rcpilot, you show is really a great CRT. I have been considering getting rid of my flat screen for it.. but it's so HUGE! It takes up the whole desk. But for the price the quality is great.

It's big for sure. If you look in the album for me, you'll see how it fills up my armoire.

Size wasn't really a consideration for me when I bought it. I wanted a super performing monitor. I always run the the biggest vid. board that I can buy. The last one I bought was my TI4600. This monitor will let the card work. Price wise, it's great IMO

The + feature is the biggest feature I like about it. No more gamma adjustment to see in the shadows when I go into a game. Hit the button & it's perfect. Come back out to the desktop & hit it again, perfect as well.

I can run it at 1024 x 768 @ 100 htz, but I don't. I run it & all my games that support it at 1280 x 1024 @ 75 htz. I like it better there IMO

Yes Mr RCPilot the Samsung SyncMaster955df has that option and yes the button is right on the front of the monitor. I thought that is what I said ?

I could always use things like item 1 or 2 or 3 and make sure I put all text into brackets and in quotation so you understand.

A SAMSUNG SyncMaster 955df .20 pitch Monitor is a good display at 17" for price it claims to be a true flat screen but it is not completely flat but it has a Highlight option that can be used in boardroom meetings to highlight certain areas of the screen on a projector.
The neat trick you can do with the highlight option is to open it up full screen so when you are gaming you can lighten up even the darkest games or maps online in multiplayer and see the bad guys hiding in the shadows before they can see you.

Well I didn't get a button push out ot your first statement, if that's' what you meant, I sure didn't pick that out of there. Sounded more like some kind of tricked up BS program that came with the monitor. Seen a lot of that type of thing.

No need to call me MR. I'm like everyone else, I work for a living!!

Oh well, it's my $.02, just like I see your $.02 around IMO
