What kind of modem are you guys using for cable internet?

im about to switch to comcast just wondering what is the best modem? also is it possible to have a modem/router and use another wireless router so i can have two wireless router one on each floor level?

best cable modems in my experience are the Motorola 6120 and 6121.

I would stay away from the modem/routers because I have not found a good one yet. Most only come with G-wireless anyway.

you could use a ASUS RT-N12 router with DD-WRT firmware to create a Bridge Repeater for the other floor.

im planning on getting the 6121 . should i just get a network switch ?

you only will need a switch and connect it to the router if you have more then 4 devices connecting to it via network cable.

yeah thats pretty much i want i guess. i want to put the modem and router on the first floor. then have a switch to the basement to connect a pc, xbox,laptop and ps3. then just use the wifi for the second floor instead of having two wireless router. would this setup works out better than the previous one?

I take a wired connection for gaming anytime over a wireless one
