Hello,my LAN card (10/100Mbps) broke and somebody said it was because my connection speed was 90Mbps and my card could not handle it.

Is this true? shouldn t my card be able to run internet speed at 90 even 100Mbps speed? should I get a 10/100/1000 card or is a 10/100Mbps card still enough?if let us say I have a 1000 Mbps connection and only a 10/100 Mbps LAN card,I think it should just cap my speed at 100 but not break the card,am I wrong?
Thank you for your attention

Solution
It did not break because of the speed. lol. That "someone" is an idiot.

Get a 10/100/1000 card. They're cheap as dirt and it will allow more overhead.

Thank you for your answers guys,it will help me to show my point, you are both clear in your responses. He said it was the connection speed that broke my card because it was just a day after I upgraded to 100Mbps speed.I m not that much of an expert in computers but I think it was just a coincidence.
