I have built my pc recently here are the specs:

Intel i7 6700k Corsair vengeance 16gb 3000mhz Msi z170a m5 gaming Noctua d15 heatsink Samsung evo 500gb ssd Seagate 2tb hdd Evga ftw gtx 1080 evga g2 750w psu

So my pc has been working perfectly for three weeks now I constantly monitor temperatures and they have been fine with the cpu in the high 40s low 50s and the gpu at 70 degrees under full load.

But last night my pc randomly turned itself off and then started sparking so I turned mains power off and the psu and disconnected cable. I couldn't find any physical damage to anything and thought at first the psu had blown but I couldn't smell any burning from it and found that the burning smell was coming from the gpu.

I took the gpu out of the pc and it is working fine so I'm guessing the gpu has blown but it's a brand new card and top of the range so what could've caused this?
