What would be the best selection of motherboards to take for a I7-8700K with a gtx 1080? This will be used for gaming, video editing, programming and running virtual machines.

damn with that budget go for the best! do you care what size your build will be? do you want something small? do you want size?
builtin wifi?
latest HD builtin soundcard?
do you want 2 graphics cards later in the futre? or 1 is enough for you?
overclocking?

my build so far https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/X7pDr7 I know I want a atx board thats all i know at the moment T_T

MSI Z370M GAMING PRO AC
** USB ports : 3x3.1Gen2, 8x3.1Gen1, 4x2.0
ASRock Z370 Killer SLI/ac
** USB ports : 1x3.1Gen2, 5x3.1Gen1
Asus ROG STRIX Z370-G GAMING (WI-FI AC)
** USB ports : 2x3.1Gen2, 6x3.1Gen1, 6x2.0

all of them have the following :
* all the same size (your typical atx size)
* lan,wifi and bluetooth
* allows 2 GPUs for SLI (ASrock allows up to 4)
* allows up to 4 RAMs but only Dual Channel
* has NVMe M.2 SSD "turbo" speeds as your system drive
* have the latest onboard HD audio codec (except for ASrock)
* have HDMI and DP as internal graphics support up to 4K resolution
* 2xm.2 slots, 6xSATA (expect MSI has 4xSATA)

if you wanna add/remove a feature there are more choices tho

Not really interested in the mini or micro atx.

this one is a bit too much do you have any other suggestions?

Solution

The reason is because the Hero is amazing in every aspect anyone would need. Asrock is a budget company with budget boards. They do well, its basically the kroger brand of computer companies.

Funny but not true.
You can spend extra on the at one time good Asus name with gimmic software tha can cause major issues like their AI suite or you can buy a board for less money with the same quality parts used to make the boards without the gimmicks.
On the Asus lower end boards they even cut corners using lower quality parts.

I believe those would be valid points if they we're true, in this case they are not. If asrock is in your budget, go for it. They will do what they're supposed to do. The parts quality is nowhere near the same, I do my own reviews on multiple motherboards from many companies aside from just these 2. Asrock does have great stability but lacks the features and durability of the asus higher end boards. And we're talking about the boards here, not some software suite that nobody uses what they come with anyway and majority of the people who do and complain don't understand how to have the latest version or update drivers/bios. Ofcourse on low end boards quality is going to be different, but they don't cut corners. Not sure where your information comes from but it is certainly false, my statements come from personal experience. But you literally told someone to go with a Asrock over a Hero board which takes away the ability to even begin to listen to your responses because I literally can't take you seriously.

This will be my last reply, I made my valid point, anyone with common sense will know this. And any disagreeableness from you is wrong.

Learn to read the post before you talk his exact words.

this one is a bit too much do you have any other suggestions
And my statements come from facts on the actuall parts used along with the power delivery.
Their no reason to even post to a over 20 day old post.
Glad to know your a expert on motherboards just from personal experience (what is that 1 or 2 builds?) and all knowing I been doing this crap over 15 years.

15 years is nothing, and yes I am technically a professional. My reply was in regards to you and your horrible advice, I was not telling him to buy it, just calling you out. And it doesn't matter how old the post is, it's still relatively new. Plus these come up in search engines and new information to fix a bad recommendation to anyone else who stumbles upon this topic.

Once you again, learn to read what I just said in the recent post...how hard is it? Just cause you have 0 problems doesn't make it any better. And if you would have actually read the reply you would notice multiple times I said Asrock is a good budget board and shouldn't have any issues, and I quoted you when I made my reply so im not talking to the OP, im talking to your (Edited for the Zerk2012 crying) self who can't read a simple paragraph. Have fun in your double wide with your cheap (Edited for the Zerk2012 crying), and for gods sake learn to read.

Poor thing, I think you'll live. Personal insults don't make someone sound like a young kid, if it we're say a bunch of profanity and CAPS and crazy explicit things then yeah sure, but in this case no..just stating facts - going off of the way you portray yourself. Like bringing up things I have already answered and pointed out multiple times, its gives a sense of someone not having the ability to read, maybe your just dumb and don't understand it? Im not sure what you have going on, but I will wish you the best. I can't fix stupid.

Great Asrock board and it's far from a budget offering, I have 2 of them now.

Great budget bosrd
