My dell 088DT1 mobo just crapped out and I need to find a replacement. I've done a fair share of replacements in the past, just not with anything this modern. I will want to keep the same CPU I have, which I -believe- is a LGA1150 socket according to http://.

Are there any other concerns I should have besides just the socket? any other information would be appreciated.

It's an Inspiron 3847.

I do not have my warranty information readily available. I might have to hunt that down through dell themselves. The computer is a partial home build, I don't really want to send the whole thing in to replace a faulty mobo.

Thanks for the suggestion, the asrock does look suitable for my needs.

I am using the dell case still and have noticed since posting that the screw arrangement is pretty wonky compared to my old micro-ATX mobo. Is this something I should be concerned about? Or should any micro-ATX fit? If not I have a Lenovo H405 case that might work.

It should, you might run into a situation where you can't line up the board with all the mounting points, but normally that won't matter as long as nothing metal is making contact with the board, and also as long as you have a fair amount of the board screwed into the standoffs. If you bought another power supply you could also just swap the case when you order the board to something like the corsair 200r, or if you want something smaller you always can browse around for that as well. With a new case you will much better options in the future as well as moving more away from having a pre-built system. Which with the new motherboard you pretty much have anyways.

I do have one more question for you, as you seem to be quite knowledgeable about these things. I noticed that the ASRock you recommended has a 24 pin ATX power slot as well as an 8 pin CPU slot. The power supply I have only has a 4 pin CPU output. Would I be correct in assuming that this is not an issue?
