Hello,

So I have been wanting to upgrade my mobo for a while but something occurred to me, I should probably future proof it a little bit. Right now all I have is a FX-6350 but one day I might want to upgrade to a 9000 series CPU and I am not sure what motherboard's are suited to it.

I have a list of all 990FX boards that I would consider but I do not know which of them support the newer processors.

Here is the list:
The Asus Sabertooth 990 FX R2.0
The Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0
The ASRock Extreme Series (9 would probably be the one I would get.)
The Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
The MSI 990FXA-GD80 V2
and
The ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer -I am really considering getting this one.

(Sorry for the long list but I thought I should cover my bases.)

For all I know all of these boards support the newer stuff but I do not know for sure.

I tried googleing it and all I really found was a really out of date list on the AMD website that was really no help at all, so any help you guys can give would be great.

Thank you for your help!
:)

Solution

The Extreme 9 Does quite good with OCing : http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme9/

But personally id go with the asus crosshair V formula Z ROG boards are the best for OCing they are made for gaming and overclocking : http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/
:)
And...

Really! Awesome, I thought that only some of them were able to support the 220 watts that are needed for the 9000 series processors but if all of them do that really opens me up to options.

Would you happen to know if the ASRock Fatal1ty Killer is good for Overclocking? If it is, that is probably the one I am going to go with.

Thank you for your help!

Great! I am glad I know how to choose my boards. Just one question, what would you choose if I didn't have a list then?

Ah, well thats too bad, I really liked the Killer but the Extreme 9 was definitely my 2nd choice other than the Crosshair V Formula Z which is a little too expensive unless there is a major OC performance boost.

In any case, so how is the Extreme 9 for Overclocking then?

Thanks for the info, I probably would have bought the Killer otherwise.

Alright, Thank you for all your help, I'm gonna look more into the Crosshair V then and probably get that one.

Thanks a ton, I probably would have gotten a mobo that couldn't do what I wanted if I didn't have your help! :)
I'll be sure to select the best answer as soon as I post this. Sorry for the long time between responses, I got busy.

Glad To Help :) :) :)
