Hello all.

I'm just wondering what would you guys think will need upgrading in the next couple years or do I need to start soon?

PC Specs
Motherboard - ROG Strix X570-F Gaming
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU - AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12gb)
RAM - Ballistix (12gb)
PSU - Corsair RM 750X

Thank you.

what would you guys think will need upgrading
for what uses?

if gaming;
what particular games,
what in-game settings,
what resolution, etc?

if work/productivity tasks;
what software,
what sort of projects, etc?
RAM - Ballistix (12gb)
it's never a good idea to mix RAM kits,
even if they may be labeled with the same make & model.

even if the system boots and applications run you could still be suffering from decreased performance and/or data inconsistencies.

Games like Call of Duty on high to max settings

if you're already playing them in that fashion, why upgrade?

i meant more, what games are you looking forward to or would like better performance in?
what sort of FPS would you like to see, etc?
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU - AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12gb)
any newer games, in the next couple of years, are very likely going to need a much better processor for good performance.
and i used an RX 6700 XT for a couple weeks when the RX 6000 series first launched and it was already lacking vs the performance i would like to see.

i would probably build an entire new system with better components all around if you are gearing towards the next couple-few years and newer games, recent and forthcoming.

5700X3D is basically in the top ten gaming CPUs today. It is a fine upgrade. Getting a full 2x16GB memory kit will certainly help as well.

GPU can be upgraded at a later date. Monitor can be upgraded at a later date and keep the system relevant for a good while.

Roughly:
7800X3D/OtherX3D 7000 series
i7 and i9 13th and 14th gen processors
5800X3D / 5700X3D
i7 / i9 12th gen processors
i5-13th and 14th gen
i5 12th gen processors
