I just got my 4090 and an EVGA 1300w Modular psu(220-GP-1300-X1).

In my case the card will only be about 12 inches from the psu. Are there shorter pcie cables that are safe/approved? I've heard about the 4090 plug melting, and just want to make sure that it's fully compatible and done right.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at those earlier but couldn't understand the terms G5 / G3 / G2 / P2 / T2? I assume my PSU is a GP because it has that in it's part number? I am not sure of this, and a bit confused. And I couldn't find any cables there for the GP..

G+. See here:

Shorter cables aren't necessarily a good thing. Standard length cables allow for longer radius, less stress on bends etc. Cable management is hard enough to do nicely without having to cut corners because of cable overlap.

I would be reluctant to use any cables that the psu maker did not supply.
If EVGA sells a shorter cable kit for your psu, then ok.
And... Do not try to enhance cable management by using a single 8/6+2 dual end cable.
Use an individual cable for each 8 pin gpu connector.
