I think it's the motherboard right and if so where does it say if it detects wifi?
I'm looking for a 100$ motherboard that can hook me up to my wifi that is why i ask.

Solution
Either powerline adapters, or if the house is already wired with coax, MOCA adapters.
Powerline pumps the signal through the house electric, MOCA pumps it through the house coax.

Both would be far better than WiFi.
if you're buying one on there are several that come with integrated WiFi
but honestly, if you're going for a full ATX build, get a WiFi card as it will have a better signal
in small cases, an integraded WiFi AP on the board does come handy however

the MSI B150I Gaming Pro AC, Gigabyte GA-B150N Phoenix-WIFI, ASRock H170M-ITX/ac are just 3 cheaper boards with the 1151 socket that come with integraded WiFi for example

Is there any specific reason you want WiFi on a desktop, vs the much faster and much more stable connection via an ethernet cable?

Wireless cards are what allow you to connect to wifi. The only motherboards I know of in the $100 price range that come equipped with a wireless cards are mini ITX boards, which I don't imagine is what your looking for. ATX, uATX, or EATX motherboards with wireless cards built in usually cost about $200+ I believe. If you have a working motherboard, you can just plug a wireless card into a PCIe slot. I personally use this: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bQ8Zxr/asus-wireless-network-card-pceac56 but you can find much cheaper options.

My gaming PC is going to be up stairs and sadly there is no way to get a ethernet cable now to where it needs to go.

Yes there is. You just need to be creative.

For a gaming PC, WiFi is the absolute last option you should consider.

Seconded. Though, actually, WiFi is not to be considered at all. As a last resort. go with some powerline adapters: https://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-Powerline-Pass-through-TL-PA8010P-KIT/dp/B00Y3QPG1A/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473098314&sr=1-2&keywords=powerline

OK let me walk you though my life and maybe you will see my point.
1.We rent a house owner of house does not want any house drilled into a floor/wall so that is out.
2. Running a 60 foot cord would not only be annoying but also we have a kid that has brain tumors (No we can't remove them they are not growing and removing them is more likely to kill him then just leaving them there) However where they are makes him VERY unstable like if we had wires he could get at within a week I'm sure he would have somehow broke them.
Anyway you know any other way to run a wire without running a wire all around my house/not following the house owners rules?

good idea looks like that may work.

See powerline adapters linked above. I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

Yes, probably.
