My pc configuration is
i5 2500
8 gb ram
Nvidia 960 gtx

What psu power do I need? I have 250 W psu. Will it work in my pc?

Definitely not good enough, try to get a good and trusted brand PSU.
At least 450W I think.....

The gtx 960 will draw 120w, sometimes up to 150w depending on the card.An i5 2500 can draw up to 120w(rated at 95w). If the 250w psu was REALLY high quality, it might make it, but I highly doubt that and it's more likely that the 250w rating isn't actually 250w but something lower. So no, your current psu won't work

A 350w psu may barely work but ideally, a 450w unit will be best. What system do you have?
