What PSU to buy?

Hello

I've for nearly a year used a 750 Watt EPS-750W Ultra Silent PSU (that's an ATX PSU)
And I can see on the electricity bill, that this 60$ (very cheap, I know...) PSU is costing me a LOT of money!

So I wonder: Which PSU would you guys recommend me to buy, if I were to save some money on the electricity?

I've heard about someting called 80Plus?

Current PC Specs:
AMD FX-8120 (soon to be replaced by Intel i5 3750k)

Cooler Master 412S

nVidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti Amp

Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 (soon to be replaced by ASRock Z77 Extreme4)

Hi - Basically, if the descr doesn't say otherwise it's ATX
compatible. Pls be aware that a sys with one 560ti can run fine
on a quality 500w PSU and that has headroom.

You want a gold, silver, or bronze rated PSU to reduce
electricity costs. Gold more efficient than silver, etc.
Keep in mind however, depending on your elect rates it will
most likely take years not month's to recoup the cost of a new PSU.

With that said, if you want to upgrade anyway, look for a gold rated
unit if it's in your budget range. You have flexibility as you can wait
for good promo deals on any quality brand psu 500w & up, actually
could run it on a good 450w unit.

One more thing to add here, just because a PSU is rated 80+, bronze, silver, gold or platinum even, does not neccessarily mean it is a good PSU. 600W should be plenty of power unless you get really serious about OCing the i5.

Is that OK? It's because I wan't to only have the power that i need + max 50 watt extra, so I can save money on the electricity 🙂 Or do I need a little more power?
(plz answer quickly so I can have time to cancel the order, if it's needed) 🙂

Hi - tot wattage of the psu has nothing to do with your electr
bill, the efficiency (gold,silver, bronze,etc) will affect your
electr usage,(thought I explained that in an earlier post),
not the psu watt capability. The PSU only pulls from the
wall(efficiency affected) what your components need.

The higher the efficiency the less it will pull & convert to DC current
for your components.
Unless you have super high rates, you won't see much diff in your bill on
a month to month basis between a gold and a bronze rated units.

The Antec 520 is plenty for your sys

Platinum and gold rated models will use less electr than those
below them,etc.

example: if your components need 200w; at 90% efficiency the psu will
pull 222w from the wall, at 80% efficiency it will pull 250w from the wall,
and at 70% efficiency it will pull 286w from the wall, all 3 instances to
deliver 200w to your components.

yeah thats fine, 520watts will be plenty for ur current system and as toy said power bill goes with the efficiency in order. 80+ higher. to 80+ platinum to highest efficiency and lower power bill.
