What ram do I need?

Hi so I ordered ram for my msi H110i pro but I didn't work for me it was ddr4 with a speed of 2666mhz,my mobo supports 2133Mhz I thought that my mobo will downclock it.I have no image on my screen.I have no idea what ram I need for this mobo can anybody tell me all the things you need to now about ram before you buy it?

Most motherboard manufacturers have a web page that lists the compatible RAM modules for each motherboard. This is MSI's page for that motherboard:

When your system boots enter setup mode and you can set the RAM manually. Let me know if this works.

I dunno man I mean you should be able to downlock ram but if you can't even get into the bios to change ram frequency then you'll just have to return that 2666 and buy some 2133 since that mobo seems to only support 2133. The things you need to know about ram before buying it is well obviously you need to make sure your motherboard supports the frequencies and if the motherboard supports DDR3 or DDR4 and then it's also a good idea if you have more than 1 ram stick to make sure your sticks are all the same brand but that's not completely necessary. You need to do your research properly before buying hardware.
