What RAM to use on ASROCK N68C-S UCC?

I have athlon II x2

I have already tried corsair xms3 2X2GB (Cmx4gx3m2a1600c9)

these dont seem to work 🙁

maybe im being a complete noob but arent these the same spec?

it has 2 slots for DDR2 ram and 2 for DDR3 RAM, maybe you put 'em wrong and that's why they won't work? btw, i heard you need AM3 to make DDR3 work on it and it supports up DDR3 1600 and DDR2 1066

Im pretty confident they were in the correct slots.
The cpu i am using is AM3 as far as i am aware.
Do you think the ram i am using is correct and i may have another problem?

Is the problem that you have DDR3 RAM with an AM+2, because that won't work.

yes, the cpu box says it is AM3 and the mobo supports this.

That RAM should work, but that does not mean it will; RAM gets finicky sometimes. Your voltage is right and the timings are right, but....

Ok, so the plot thickens. When i use just one stick the machine works perfectly.

It has worked with both sticks but only for a short while and now wont boot at all with both sticks.

Im thinking its a problem with the timings maybe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Oh sure you can play with the timings without hurting anything. The worst that will happen is it won't boot, and you will have to either clear CMOS on the MB or do it from BIOS to get it back to OEM. (I don't know ASRock's BIOS so I can't tell you which.
You can find out what the SPD timings chart is for your RAM from CPUZ, if you don't already have it.
