The G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL will work if you have a AM3 CPU
The G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
will work if you have an AM2+ or AM2
it has 2 slots for DDR2 ram and 2 for DDR3 RAM, maybe you put 'em wrong and that's why they won't work? btw, i heard you need AM3 to make DDR3 work on it and it supports up DDR3 1600 and DDR2 1066
Im pretty confident they were in the correct slots.
The cpu i am using is AM3 as far as i am aware.
Do you think the ram i am using is correct and i may have another problem?
Oh sure you can play with the timings without hurting anything. The worst that will happen is it won't boot, and you will have to either clear CMOS on the MB or do it from BIOS to get it back to OEM. (I don't know ASRock's BIOS so I can't tell you which.
You can find out what the SPD timings chart is for your RAM from CPUZ, if you don't already have it.
