The motherboard will work just fine with Crossfiring 2x R9 290!
What power supply do you have? I think you need at least 650-750W.
The R9 290's are designed for larger monitor gaming such as 1080p, 1440p and higher, If money Isn't a problem, go for the 4K or 1600p, otherwise 1440p. Actually 1440p should be best for gaming since it's smaller you'll gain a lot more fps 😉
I have i5 4670K and 1x R9 290 on 1080p and I'm more than happy with the performance! 😀

PS, do you already have the motherboard or are you going to buy it now?

No, my personal choice would be one single 4K Monitor. 😉

For my personal opinion try playing on a triple monitor atleast 5760x1080. The experience is so immersive and fun that I don't want to go back playing on a single monitor. The r9 290 Xfire is a beast. Just got a used single R9 290 sapphire trix coming from a gtx 670 2gb. The difference is day and night gameplay is smooth and my avg fps is 60 on high setting single card. I've bought another r9 290 sapphire tri-x from ebay to xfire it. Btw my resolution is 5760x1080.

From what you said there, I would change my opinion to 3x 1920x1080 :)

Could i use 4k as a main and 2 1080p monitors

Acer 23" IPS monitor

Awesome this is what I bought last black Friday sale. Probably you could find cheaper prices on other vendors. I bought it 120$ back then. You wouldn't notice the bezel because it all glass outside and once the monitor is turned on you will see a black border inside. Color is nice, it's an IPS panel. Its the best bang for your back if you want to try a triple monitor set-up. I know 4K gaming is awesome by the specs, high resolution some people wants higher refresh rates. But it the end of the day you'll get bored and will eventually try something different.

I prefer using same resolution on all monitor. If you have a budget try looking to a Yamasaki Catleap 27" IPS monitor 2560 x 1440. Make that a triple monitor.

Have no personal experience with that monitor but I've seen great reviews and feedback.
