If you overclock it, you need a new heatsink, or watercooling. And depends on what you'll do with it.

Why not overclock and see if you get a performance level that satisfies you? If it doesn't then look to upgrade.

Well thats kind of a personal choice do you have the money to spend on a intel mobo and i5? The performance increase wont be very much so if your not rich i would advise you just upgrade your gpu if you feel your pc isent performing well enough.

No not to me anyways your talking maybe 3-5fps diffrence between a overclocked 6300 and the 4690 so if 3-5fps is worth 200 dollars to you go for the i5. you would need a new motherboard as well so its going to be more than 200 to upgrade to an i5.

He's right. You'll spend at least 400$ on the new set. Just oc and buy a h100i not h80i.
