Question about ram speed, im a little confused as what I should set my ram speed to? If i put it on auto it goes to 2133mhz. What is the fastest i set it to? (2400 or 3000)

My rig is:
Cpu i3 8100 (intel website shows max ddr4 speed is 2400 for coffe lake)
Msi z370 pro A
G skill ddr4 3000

Solution
Do what it says on the sticker on the sticks. That is what it is advertised it.
You might even be able to get higher. I got my DDR3-1600 running at 2133 just fine.
But that of course voids your warranty,, as all overclocking does.
2133 is the default setting. The MSI mobo supports Intel XMP which is a set of factory overclock settings which may or may not work with your Mobo/CPU/RAM. The G Skill speed is the maximum supported speed. It should work at slower speeds.

The overclock settings are, by definition, running outside the guaranteed settings meaning they may or may not work.

Th MSI mobo specifications say, "Supports 4000+(OC)/ 3866(OC)/ 3733(OC)/ 3600(OC)/ 3466(OC)/ 3400(OC)/ 3333(OC)/ 3300(OC)/ 3200(OC)/ 3000(OC) / 2800(OC)/ 2667/ 2400/ 2133 MHz"

So you can try every setting up to G Skill's maximum of 3000. If the machine goes unstable at some point, reboot and select the next lowest setting.

While you are doing this keep an eye on your temperatures to make sure you don't overheat the CPU. If it does go over maximum temperature keep moving back to slower settings until you get under the CPU's maximum temperature.

3000, go into BIOS and enable XMP profile.
Your not going to overheat the CPU.
