Was wondering if someone has input on what I should upgrade my graphics card to for future VR Games.

Budget Range: 800$-1200$
System Usage from Most to Least Important: VR Gaming. Oculus Rift, hl2 vr, star citizen, etc.

Current Specs:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770, 6 GB
Intel Core i5-4670K CPU @3.4GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 10
850w PS

Is there anything besides my graphics card I should update?
Thanks

NZXT X61 for the cooler, or Coolermaster MasterAir Maker 8 if you buy some low-profile RAM (no super-tall heat sinks).

The GTX 1070 is very new, yes. It's a very powerful card (better than the 980 Ti) and features a new Nvidia technology that more or less doubles VR performance compared to their older cards.
Mainly the GPU (recommend going with a Pascal GPU), but other than that nothing absolutely necessary, although some extra RAM and a CPU overclock (hence good CPU cooler) wouldn't hurt.

As long as you're not going to play at 4K, a GTX 1070 will be more than enough. Combining that with a 16GB RAM kit and a high end CPU cooler it should cost you around 600-700$ in total at most.

Thank you for your quick response, no I'm not planning to play any 4k so 1070 might be the one, did they just release this?
I have a Intel E97378-001 cooler, I don't think it's very high end what do you suggest for a cooler?
