I was thinking of upgrading to a GTX 980ti next but I wouldnt have enough money to get 2 for SLI right off the bat. I would need to probably buy one, sell my 970s and then save the rest up for a second one.

I was also thinking of upgrading my MOBO/CPU
I was thinking ASUS Maximus LGA 1150 / i7-4790k Devils Canyon
or maybe even...
ASUS X99 LGA 2011/ i7-5930K

What do you guys think should be my next upgrade?

I do a TON of gaming on several different games(Mostly Arma), I edit my gameplay / stream to twitch & I do work on photoshop as well.

the newer skylake that are out now are not muc hfaster then the cpu you have now. wait for the muilt core skylake latter in 2016/2017 then think about jumping to a ddr4 rig. for the gpu a hold off for pascal that be dropping in first half of 2016. they tapped out the gpu chip and foundry is making them now. the new gpu have more ram and faster bus (4096 bit for the ram). also be on smaller dye and use less power but be faster then maxwell.

5930K or 4790K won't be much of an upgrade; 970s should be ok for a while still. You should be fine waiting about a year before looking at upgrading GPUs for 1440p.

agreed. definately not a 4970, while nice it likely wont even be a noticeable upgrade in performance. you've got a pretty good rig right now, so i agree with smorizio you should save some more and wait for some more options on the new cpu platforms and the next family of gpus.

the only thing besides that i could say is a lot of gamers care for higher than 1080 resolution and better fps than a television will provide you. dual 970s should support 1440 and/or 144hz pretty well. thing is, im guessing since you're using your television you prefer the size over resolution and refresh rate. nothing wrong with that, i have dual 970s running my 1080 60hz monitor and like it, but it is an option if the money is just burning a hole in your pocket.

that said, i still suggest save and get a considerable upgrade later. especially considering theres pretty much nothing that dual 970s cant crush at 1080, so a 980ti(which would match the pair of 970s pretty well) is overkill, let alone 2 of them.

is this the skylake you refer to?

for the pascall gpu is this the correct article?

I wouldn't upgrade anything in that build ecept maybe a bigger SSD (850 evo or pro 500-1tb), but only if you need it. Other than that you won't need a new gpu(gpu's) untill next year if you wish to go 4K unrestricted gaming (you'll need a 4K monitor) with 2 Pascal/Arctic Islands gpu's in SLI/Xfire (maybe you'll only need one, but I doubt it).
