I got this custom built PC off ebay pretty cheaply about 3 months ago. So far everything is working great, but just wandering if it is suitable to upgrade, and what upgrades you would suggest. No plans to alter anything soon, but just for future reference..

processor - Intel core i5-4430
graphics card - asus radeon HD 7870 2GB PCI-E
Motherboard - MSI H81M-E33
8GB DDR3-1600 RAM
850 watt power supply
1TB seagate HDD
128GB sandisk SSD

Thanks

If you are going to game on higher than 1080p, you are probably going to need a better video card and cpu. Unless you are not planning on doing that, just keep your build the way it is. Just make sure the airflow is good in your case and that components are not overheating. They will last...

Your socket is a LGA 1150, a lot of cpus can fit in there like the i7 4790k if you want a bit more performance.
You can also add a bit of RAM, but 8gb is fine right now.
You can also swap out the video card for a more powerful one if you want more performance, your power supply is good enough.
SSD&HDD combo is good, if you want some more storage get a WD or Seagate drive.

Cool thanks. My friend says 850 watts is too much and will damage components. I think he's talking out of his ass but any truth in this.?
Also from a bit of searching I haven't heard great things about the reliablility of Sandisk SSDs. Any thoughts on them?

No, that is complete bullshit. More watts will not always be better, because efficiency goes down but nothing will break.

You shouldn't use your SSD as a media storage drive. Just install your OS and a few games on there but keep savegames or other media on your Seagate HDD (you can add another one and put them in RAID 0 if you want extra reliabilty, you are going to have to back up the data on the drive because you have to format them)
