so im in a pickle... i currently have an fx 8370 (@4.7 990fxa-ud5 on air and thinking of h110igt and a sabertooth or crosshair so i can get 5ghz) and an r9 290 (msi twin frozr @1090 mhz gpu and 1300 ram) and would like to upgrade my system so i can play battlefront and fallout 4 maxed out on an lg 34um67 21*9 monitor that i will be buying to replace my triple monitors. im thinking of a fury x definitely so i can use freesync on the new monitor but im not sure if i should switch my cpu.
im thinkin the new i5 6600k and an asus tuf board but i dont know if this would help much. so im asking whether i should just get the card and some other things i need headphones better case etc or get the new cpu and mobo and ram and cheap out on the headphones and stuff?

UPDATE are there and rotated motherboard cases like silverstone cases that arent by silverstone? or any alternatives to the haf xb evo by coolermaster?

There is little to no difference in performance between 4.7ghz and 5.0ghz so please don't waste your money on a $100 cooler and certainly not on a new AM3+ motherboard. The logical choice would be to switch to Intel. It doesn't have to be Skylake. My friend has a stock i7 4770 and a R9 295x2 and he maxes every game on a 3440x1440 34" LG 21:9 monitor. I'm sure you could just add a 2nd 290 and max that 2560x1080p monitor.

You're going to love gaming @ 21:9 by the way.

Spend $300 on a new MB and Cooler for an extra 200mhz isn't going to do anything for gaming except give you a 5ghz bragging rights at the cost of $150 per 100mhz.

I wouldn't bother with that. Either go new MB and intel, or get the furyX and see if the CPU bottlenecks you., if it does at 4.8, it will at 5 and then get a new cpu/mb

You also don't need a furyx , get another 290 and CF and kill it.

i had thought about crossfire at one point but i read that on release of new games you have to wait for drives to come out supporting crossfire and i know how bad amd is with drivers is that true? and freesync dosent work with crossfire so the monitor im looking at would not be running freesync

does freesync support crossfire?
