what should my paladin be doing?

Hi,

Just rerolled a Paladin on a new PVP/RP server, and I'd like to know
what I should be doing (doesn't everyone? :))

Should I be concentrating on healing, or dammage? I realise this will
depende on what other classes are in the group, but there must be
general rules... can I maintank? offtank? mainhealer or secondary?
What's the aggro managment like? Will groups snub me 'cause I'm not needed?

And never having been on a pvp server before, what can I expect? I'm
just really not sure what a Paladin should be doing, it doesn't seem as
obvious as my main (mage).

Anyone playing both a mage and a pally, any tips on the transition would
be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem, from playing my mage for months, then rolling
another toon, i hadn't a clue what to spec as (Hunter). My advice would be
to goto the official wow forums and look in the pally section.

i am horde so i really dont know 1005, but:

u will always have a priest as main healer in raids and always a
warrior as maintank. i really think a pala is something like the "ally
shaman". u will be Maintank assister. heal a bit, fight a bit.

and to pvp: it SHOULD be like a "good PVE" server. what i didnt like on
the PVE RP server was, that if another faction "spit" at u or so u
still couldnt kill them / attack them. now u can. but i really think
that there will be many gankers as well... ;-(

Concentrate on DPS for leveling. Go with a 2 hander and work up the
Retribution tree. At 22 (or so) you will be sent into contested territory.
This is where things will get frustrating for you if you are used to a PVE
server. Unfortunately the new RP-PVP servers are a haven for gankers. They
have the freedom to kill whenever they want and they 'think' that RP players
are all lousy pvpers and therefore are easy marks. Fortunately on a new
server everyone will be leveling and there won't be many higher level people
wanting to waste time ganking.
Once you get to 60 you'll know what talents, etc. you prefer.

Thats just what I did, on the French forums, but there doesnt really
seem to be what I'm looking for.

(In the Mage section there is " a Mages guide to grouping" "a mages
guide to AOE" " a mages quide to MC" etc.... but nothing equivalent in
the paladin forum; is this because a paladin is easy to play? or because
they don't like sharing?)
