hi, my computer's motherboard doesent have an optical input ;_; really sad, i have then decided to get a sound card with optical input so i can get the full 7.1 surround of my tritton 720+. the headsets come with a box that has 3 different dolby sound streams, does the soundcard affect this stream???? what should i choose? i was thinking about this one: http://www.terratec.net/details.php?artnr=10063#.Vhue8fntmko (their home website) i dont have much money to spend btw

i was also thinking of this one, http://www.amazon.co.uk/LogiLink-PC0043-Soundkarte-7-1-Kanal/dp/B0058P82Q6 it has 7.1

Your headset isn't 7.1, it uses a set of 50mm speakers i.e. stereo. It uses Dolby processing to create a virtual 7.1. Just connect it using a...
So you're thinking of a 5.1 soundcard to get the best from your 7.1 headset, that doesn't make much sense to me. Ignoring that, the optical input is not gonna make any noticeable difference, it's just a different connection, your ears are never gonna tell the difference. IMO you should save your money and stick with the onboard sound.

so you say if i use this sound card i would still get 7.1 surround from the headset box???

well as you see i have a hell'a expencive headsett with 7.1, i cant use the 7.1 with the onboard because my motherboard doesent have optical ;_; so if i want 7.1 surround, i need a sound card with optical. i play alot of CSGO so this is very important.

Your headset isn't 7.1, it uses a set of 50mm speakers i.e. stereo. It uses Dolby processing to create a virtual 7.1. Just connect it using a 3.5mm jack to your existing soundcard. Buying another soundcard is a waste of money

well, my headsets connect to the pc using a usb (power) and an optical. if i dont use the optical it is gonna transfer stereo sound though the usb, but it will not be surround. if i use 3.5 jack to connect i cant use the dolby sound box, therefore, no surround

3.5mm carries mono or stereo sound, it won't carry 7.1 channels. That adaptor will make your headset work, but won't make it 7.1. You could try virtual surround. I also play CS GO and I am Global Elite with stereo headphones, so I am not sure if 7.1 will really get you somewhere. I also seem to notice sounds better than my friends with their razer headsets. Anyway, I work with professional sound and maybe my ears are better trained than theirs and my stereo headphones are also professional ones. But everytime I put on a 5.1 or 7.1 headsets, the sound feels extremely low fi. Haven't heard a surround headset through a stereo connection, though.

As i said earlier they aren't 7.1 headphones, they use Dolby to create a virtual 7.1. The adaptor should work just fine, it carries the sound to the Dolby box of tricks which works it's magic before it outputting the virtual 7.1 to the headphones....

hello, i have these usual 6 3,5 mm jack inputs on the back, can 1 of them be dedicated to surround or some shit,
i read that alot of sound sound cards have like yellow is surround, black is bass, blue is left and right, green is front and shit,
here is the descriptions of the sound card i was looking at, can the same be for these 6 3.5mm jack on the motherboard?
