What sucks about AMD

Meh, I think it's rather obvious you should get decent cooling regardless of whether or not you overclock. If you overclock and break it because of that, you deserve what you get for being an idiot. I would always advise a good CPU/GPU cooler ALONG WITH godly case flow anyway, which is a given for PC safe use.

No. I'm talking about cheapo people that are always looking for bargain basement priced PC's & then they complain to you, the consultant/installer, about what a piece of crap it is that their hard earned .99 cents went into two weeks later in addition to the RMAing by the 3rd week. My rule of thumb was & sometimes is (when I'm in the mood to put PC's together again for others than myself) when they ask for a Ford Pinto, push them into the Toyota, when they go for the Toyota, push them the Volkswagen Beetle (70's version), when they go for the Beetle, sell them the Cadillac CTS. This way when the unit fails before the 90 day warrany expires (and it will) you can always blame that one old part they wanted to keep. Usually (especially that cheap uncle) I'll tell tell them that they should save up for another 3-4 weeks worth of cash to get them something that I wouldn't mind working on when they have a problem (because they will call you with a problem after the sale).

Yeah, i see. But in my case I'll be lucky to be able to convince them to spend $500. They just want a DVD burner (because "WOW, ARE THEY THAT CHEAP!"), new hard drive, (possibly "a video card to watch DVDs?") now correct me if i'm wrong but this is something that we always do all the time on our retro PCs, straight-out-of-the-closet so to speak.

I wish. I have only been able to overclock a X 2400M so far. But the difference between the XP-m and the other XPs I have ruined is that I bought a chip and a mobo that everyone recommended. I didnt get the 2.5 ghz everyone else seemed to be getting but I did get it up to 2.35 but it got more and more unstable as time went on. None of my other parts were recommended for OC'ing. The sad thing is that I didnt learn anything from breaking those chips. I have the overclocker's bible that I am going to read on my way back from Iraq and I plan on getting to work on my X2 3800 when I get back. Sweet.
