What surface for suction plugs?

Quick question:
I just got a new joystick/throttle for my flight sim, but since its very light for some reason, it uses sort of 'suction plugs/legs' which is a very good idea, HOWEVER, they seem to come loose very often, its because my desk is wood.
So does anyone know what temporary surface i can get so that it actually sticks!? (Ive thought about glass but thats last resort tbh)

Get a glass top cut to match your desk. It's done at glass shops for kitchen tables all the time.
