What Temperature Will My GPU Crash?

The geforce website (http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-770/specifications) states the max temp is 98c, so you should be ok, with that temperature, just keep an eye on it now and then.

Could it be your CPU which is causing the crashes?
What sort of crashes are you getting? E.g blue screen or does it just quit the game?

I've had the bluescreen before but it's strange. The crashes vary. A lot of the time it's when I leave the game and the screen goes black and I then have to turn it off and on again by the button.

Have you updated the driver? It might be a defective card.

What are the rest of your system specs - that should be ruled out too. Does it not crash in windows ever? Just in games?

Try downloading Speedfan to see what your GPU temps are. I'm guessing that is not your problem but it shouldn't hurt. Typically the cards have a safety feature where they downclock at around 80°, and the max temp is 100ish like the above poster said.

I've updated the drivers, removed the drivers, re-installed the drivers.

Processor: i5-3570
8GB RAM
Asrock H77M Motherboard

I never crash when I'm just in Windows. I occasionally crash after exiting a game and I'm in Windows. But this is always right after I close a game.

I don't know if this will help, but when I play low-res games like Game Dev Tycoon, I never crash. Also, FIFA. The temperature on the GPU remains low whilst playing these. No hot air blows out of the PC. And I have played games like these for excessive hours. Also, the crashing has been less frequent since getting a bigger power supply. My current power supply is 750W. The recommended power supply for my GPU is 600W.

Could be an issue related to power then - sorry, I'm not an expert. Someone with a bit more knowledge here may be able to help better.

What PSU ? If you have a bad or inadequate PSU, that can be a real issue - possibly damaging system components.

Are all your drivers up to date for motherboard etc?

I know you have uninstalled all the drivers etc but uninstall all the drivers from the control panel under uninstall programs and remove everything Nvidia. Now just to be safe use a program like driver sweeper to make sure.

Now do not reinstall them from GeForce experience, download the drivers from the website. I had the exact problem and I thought it was a faulty GPU, then PSU and after eliminating software and drivers I thought it had to be hardware but it was a driver problem all along, never download drivers from experience, I've had nothing but problems with it.

Hope I helped :)

Power Supply seems fine. It is the Corsair CXM 750W. All drivers and BIOS is up to date.

Hi, I've already used Driver Sweeper to completely remove all my drivers and I've then re-installed them. Also, my Geforce Experience was playing up so I uninstalled it and downloaded the drivers from NVIDIA.

Hmmm then it could be a faulty GPU maybe, do a Memtest to check memory and check your CPU temps.

Ran a Memtest, RAM seems fine, but I don't know how accurate it is. It doesn't crash every time I play, a lot of the time it's when I'm playing high-res game and I leave the game. Also, what can I use to check the CPU temps?

Memtest is pretty good, you can use CoreTemp to record your CPU temperatures, turn your settings to low on the high-res games to see if you still crash.

If you still crash use a program like Gpu Tweaker to check voltages your PSU is outputting, if it outputs more than it should for a split second then your PC will most likely shut its self down to protect it. It could be your PSU failing, either not outputting the right amount of power or sudden outages due to wear and tear, just natural usage. try dusting out your PC as well.

Already have GPU Tweaker. The data log says 1200 Volts was the max since the pc was last on. Is that a lot?

1.200 Volts is fine.

1200 Volts and the gpu would turn into a molten fireball.

It still sounds like a weird power issue to me. Could be as simple as a bad GPU. Do you have an old GPU to play with? Was is possible you damaged any of the power cables while installing the PSU?

The PSU was installed fine. The 550W PSU (which I had before my current) was also fine, the crashes just happened more frequently. So the crashes have occurred less since the new PSU but I still think it's a strange issue and not sure if it's related to power.
