Ok this is a kinda dumb question. What can i do with a tv out card that can cap video off a VCR? can i get old movies out and edit them. Put stuff like Text on the screen when the movie is playing, you know what i mean, like when you watch a real movie they have the title floating around and stuff like that... And what are good card for this, in the 100- 150 buck range?

OK, I'm not an expert, but since nobody else is answering...:)
To be able to edit movies you have to have Video IN -- so you can take movie from VCR and put it on the Hard Drive.
Then, to be able to edit it, you need the software -- some of it comes with some cards, some of it doesn't. The software which comes even with more expensive cards is usually fairly poor in features though... you may have to go out and get your own...

To put edited movies back on VCR, you need Video OUT...

I have a Video IN only card (ATI TV-WONDER I think), and it works great for recording movies on my HD. however, I have no software to edit it, and I can't put it back on the tape right now.

things to consider, I guess...

I think adobe has a video editing package called Adobe Premiere. It costs $550 if you buy it. But since you already do *wink* Get your own "backup" copy at

This guy checks out...I got some game "backups" before, when one didn't work he sent me another free of charge...

As far as the video capture... That's probably going to be a really expensive card...

good luck

What you can do is plug your Video camera into it(also a digital camera) and down load your video, if you get a reasonable one you can edit individual frames. cut frames out and put others in, fade in fade out, add special effects ect, Studio are good ones, the DC10 plus lets you use other peoples software as well, Premiere is very good software, dont know how much it is where you are but its about $1600 here
