ok i have a situation, i need a new cpu and i know that the i5 2500k is still a beast of a chip (im gaming mainly btw) but i can get an i5 3570k cheaper and i can get a i5 4670k for the same price as the 3570k!!! I need to buy a new mobo as well, i have a asus maximus iv gene-z/gen3 but i cannot cross fire a second card because my HIS HD 7950 iceq turbo 3gb covers the other gpu slot!!! i was thinking about getting the asus maximus vi formula but nothing is set in stone yet. need advice guys

Honestly, you are better off just spending the money on a R9 290 or 290x and keeping your 2500k. No dealing with micro stutter and inconsistencies of crossfire.

I would strongly advise against Crossfiring 2 7950s for that high of resolution gaming.

You could get a 290 Vanilla and not have to worry about Crossfire stressing your CPU, you will also not have to deal with microstuttering.

Not if you come across a game with poor CF support. You also still have the microstuttering issue. 7990 is 2 gpu on one board.
