What to upgrade first?

Hey all! Looking for some insight on what to upgrade to give me a noticeable increase in performance / visuals. My computer setup is accurate as listed. I'm assuming the CPU or GPU will be suggested and am looking for something reasonable (hopefully) around the $200 mark but will go over if the upgrade if it's worth it.

Yep, I can see it now. Your computer is pretty solid. If I were to upgrade I would save money for the GTX 970. You already have more than half you need for it. It will be totally worth it. Just keep the money aside and keep saving for 970. Good luck!

How goes the age old discussion of AMD vs Nvidia? Has either pulled ahead or lagged behind? Would the GTX 970 be compatible with the rest of my setup?

It is difficult to decide but Nvidia with their new Maxwell architecture has improved power consumption and performance of the GPU.And yes GTX 970 is compatible with rest of your setup
