My Current specs:
Watercooled i7-6700k
Superclocked GTX 1080
16gb ddr4 3200 corsair vengeance ram
512gb 850Pro SSD, 500gb hd
Motherboard Fatality Z170 K6
Asus pb287q monitor

Now I know this isn't exactly the best time to be looking to upgrade, at least gpu wise with the market being inflated due to miners. But i'm just looking for suggestions for what to upgrade. I'd like to be able play at 4k on high to ultra settings and get a consistent 60+ fps at least. Currently I can get around 30 or less depending on settings, usually with screen tearing. I know sli isn't the best way to go as for the most part it doesn't have the best support and the 1080ti works better with dx12 but I can't see a single 1080ti doing that well at 4k. I don't know how far we are from the 11xx series as they didn't mention anything at their most recent conference but I may wait and see the specs on those cards. What do you think is the best way to go?

I've been doing the same lately and came to the conclusion that 4k gaming isn't ready. Even if you buy a 1080ti there are still a few games that it can't hit 60fps consistently at 4k, let alone at 120fps.

I think it's about at least a gen away or maybe two before I'll buy into 4k.

Ya I remember a jackfrags video where he played bf1 at 4k with like 120fps and then upscaled it in the settings so it was basically 8k and still got like 50fps, I forget what cards he was using but they're probably like $1500 a piece. :/

I had the same thought about taking the plunge to Ultrawide. I posted this a while ago. I’ve since upgraded to Win 10 and new bios on Mobo. Nothing changed with those updates. I’m really disappointed in my ultrawide upgrade. Was running 980ti SLI but on a FW900 crt. Granted that monitor was only 60fps and 2304X1440 but it stayed locked at 60 FPS. Never lower no matter what all Ultra settings. Now try running Prey or Far Cry 4 or Wolfenstien Collossus and it sucks. I’m like at 30fps. I can’t see what’s going wrong. I’d just really be careful when upgrading. I hope if you do it goes better for you than me.

Hi everyone.
Can you tell me what I should be getting in FPS from my build running at 3440X 1440?

• Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
• MOBO: Asus X99 LGA 2011-v3 OC Socket – Drive CPU and DDR4
• CPU: I7-5820K Haswell-E 6-core 3.3 GHz LGA-2011-v3 140W 15 MB L3 Cache 6 x 256 KB L2 Cache
• RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 (PC4 25600)
• GPU: EVGA GTX-1080ti SC2
• Monitor Alienware 3418DW 100Hz Over-clockable to 120Hz

Right now I run 70-80FPS with pretty low settings (fullscreen) in PUBG. Does this seem about right? Is there a glaring weak link here (besides me)? Thank you - Jim
