Had this computer built 3 years ago don't know what to upgrade

Currently whats in it

i7 quad core 2.97 ghz
4gb ddr3 ram
Atx asus p7p55d
Gtx460 1gb pci-e
Win 7 64 bit home

I'm currently thinking to upgrade to 8gb since i read thats all i will ever need for gaming. I use the game to just play on a regular basics of mmorpgs an random fps games. Sometimes photoshop an protools, an of course normal use.

I also thinking of a ssd drive 120gb or higher, as far as i read i can manually install simply, and then use the bios to install window 7 an then update an install the drivers an update them also reboot plug in old harddrive use bios to make sure ssd boots first then the old hard drive, also then i can access my files from the old one but applications (some)may need to be reinstalled. An to use something called trim for ssd

Anyone whats your opinion? I have no budget i'd lile to upgrade it now, an not have to again for a fee years haha.

Is my 650w not good enough o.o
I'll be getting the samsung 120 gb ssd or te crucial one, 120-250 how ever i feel on this saturday.

I currently just bought a new case
My old one : atx skeleton
An new one : ATX : No PSU : Hoplite : White : ECA3261-W : Enermax
an gonna grab the 16gb 4 sticks of 4gbs each since its on sale for 70$

650w is plenty, if its from a good maker.

What brand is it?

My power supply currently is 650w : scythe : chouriki-2

So if i ever want to upgrade my cpu i would need a different mobo since mine only supports lga 1556, but thats for future reference.

That is a quality 650w 80 plus Silver unit, very nice.

No need for you to upgrade it.

Yeah, your motherboard can only use LGA 1156 processors.

A very useful and free tool for the pc.

Install it, then post back with:

"Processor name" under the cpu tab.

All you will probably need to do is buy an aftermarket cpu cooler and overclock it, they still are very good for gaming.

Overclocked properly they will EASILY beat anything from amd in games.

Lol im to noob to know how to overclock it, and its an intel i7:870:1156: quad corr(ht)
At work an i have the receipt with me so can't use the program but thats it

Edit: does it matter which cpu cooler i buy

All modern coolers should be compatible.

Can't go wrong with any on the list of best intel coolers, just pick your budget.

Heck even a hyper 212 should do the job if you are on a budget.

A good overclocking guide for p55 mobos:

Thanks a bunch and also to everyone for their opinions will be getting an setting everything up this saturday!

on a side note so my case is a atx antec skeleton case, its an open concept case. and im going to transfer everything to my new case ATX : No PSU : Hoplite : White : ECA3261-W : Enermax
anyone have tips? like im a complete noob, and watching few 1hr assembly videos are really helpful, but my cords for the skeleton are thick ._. as shat, and if i unplug everything but leave the ram, proc, and etc i can just transfer the mobo + whatever is attached to the new case just like that? then rewire from there,
like should i use tape or something to mark what goes what o-o i was gonna pay for someone to transfer but they have a waiting list for two weeks q.q
