I'm currently updating my desktop with an ssd and thought I'd update my ram at the same time. It came to me with one 4GB & one 8GB so I want to replace the 4 with an 8 (and I found out somewhere that 16 is the max for this board.
The motherboard is an ASUS HBIM-K/K?1ADE/DP (the ? is actually some figure I didn't recognize). System model is A-F-K31ADE . The 8GB ram I'm hoping NOT to replace is Samsung 8GB 2Rx8 PC3-12800U-11-13-B1 (M378B1G73EBO-CKO).
Does the new one need to be Samsung? Do I need to match this exactly? I've found similar but with 3DBO instead of the 3EBO or with -YKO instead of the -CKO. Is it okay to match old ram with new (unlike with batteries where you shouldn't)? The numbers & letters don't mean much to me so if someone could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. btw If you have an specific suggestions on what I should buy, I'm in Canada.
