what usb port should i use to install boot drive

Im changing my laptop hdd to ssd and I'm having trouble to get it to go to the boot drive. in the bios menu there are three types of usb( hdd,fdd, and cdrom) and wherever usb port I put my thumbdrive in it doesnt detect it

With USB Download tool. windows 10

there are 2 usb 2.0 port. one is beside the 3.0

Probably USB HDD, but try all of them if that does not work.

what make and model (pre configure dell ect) I need the model complete on the label ire SPX7200-RL345
it could be that your laptop is old enough to not have a boot from usb, or new enough to have fast boot on and that is locked out because of it
my vote is for the older laptop because of "USB Floppy Disk Drive" option.
please advise so I can look for a manual and give you an educated answer instead of a shot in the dark.

And assuming the BIOS gives the option of more than one 'thing' in the boot order (as do most).

....put ALL options in the BIOS.
The way it works is...if it fails to see anything at Option 1, it goes to Option 2. Still nothing? Option 3.
and on....

Try that, with the USB stick in a USB 2.0 port.

I tried searching myself and It said that I have to change the Boot Mode to "CSM" or "Legacy" instead of "UEFI"
but idont have that option
