OK guys this is driving me nuts, I really need to know if I have expresscard slot version 1.0 or 2.0. I've looked using Speccy, at the online manual, even asked geek squad, and they cannot tell me what version I have. I have a Sony Vaio laptop version VPCF134FX, with the expresscard slot and the Intel i7 740-qm intel processor. I literally have scavenged over everything on the internet and cannot find a solution. Can anybody help me? I'd GREATLY appreciate it!

I can't find it explicitly either. But seeing that your system appears to have started shipping sometime in 2010, I'd suspect it's v1.0. That's no guarantee.
You do have a ExpressCard 34 slot (the smaller sized slot). Further ExpressCard 2.0 is backwards with 1.0 computers (like USB 1.0vs2.0vs3.0). So you should safely be able to buy what ever EC device you're looking for, as long as it's the "34" size and not the "54"

Yeah it's turning out to be really frustrating. I'm looking to purchase the ViDock 4 and it apparently does not work too well with the expresscard slot version 1.0, so I was really hoping I had the 2.0 version. Anyway, thanks for the help psaus. Anyone else out there who can shed some light on the issue? I'd really appreciate it.

There's 3 options from my perspective (only because I don't know a 3rd party app to report this :) )

- Buy the product anyways, insuring you're buying from a good reseller that gives you a nice return policy in case it doesn't work.
- Call/email Sony to get the details from them.
- Scour your INF folder (C:\Windows\INF) You might need to enable "View hidden/system files". In this folder, you don't need to look at all of them, just the OEM**.inf files. There is one of these files for each piece of hardware installed. But that still leaves you with a good few INF files to scour through. And even then the details and comments in the header of the ExpressCard INF may not tell you v1 or 2 clearly. But could be worth a try. (I'd use Notepad++, select a whole mess of them via ctrl+click and then drag them on top of Notepad++, and then cycle through the tabs.

Sorry, I know my suggestions are less than ideal. :heink:
