Ya I am sure 166 was the first with that instruction set.

Also, P60 was the first Pentium available, though I never owned one myself until P75 was released.

Actually, i still have a laptop (a micro Toshiba, the size of 2 decks of cards) running win98 and a build in P75. If I could find a network card for it I would be using it now.

You think UMPC's are new, you should see this one.

Someone remember the name for me please as it has skipped my mind.

first family computer:

Packard Bell (that's right)
Pentium 75mhz (later upgraded to an mmx 233)
16mb ram (later upgraded to it's maximum of 72)
750 mb hard drive
don't know what type of video card.
14.4 modem

First personal computer
Dell pentium III 800 mhz
RDRAM 128 mb (later upgraded to 256)
32 mb TNT video card
30 gb hard drive (still have it running in my current rig)

First home built from scratch:
Socket 754 3400+ venice
4 hard drives
x1900xt 256 mb video
1 gb ddr ram

From what i remember, the P133MMX came out on laptops about 2-3 months after the P166MMX was released. I can't remember if it ever came out for a desktop but i am pretty sure it didn't. I could be wrong though...
~Cheers

My first CPU:

286-16

Quickly followed about two weeks later by a 386sx-33 - I bought the 286 'cause it was cheap - then realized I could have done better - so I did.... :)

286 with fancy new 3.5 floppy + 5.25 floppy 512K ram 20MB hdd and 1 original, just released genuine hard wired sound blaster, 13" 16 color monitor and a real tri-color-ribbon bi directional printer with changeable print wheels and the latest 2400 baud, built in no less, modem...all for less than $3000

TRS80 (1.7Mhz, whooping 4K of ram), never forget typing in all my games in basic and recording it on to audio tapes. Ofcourse, I accidentally recorded over my games when I was copying some songs from a friend. ahh, the good'o days.

Actually there was the Pentium 60 and Pentium 66. You don't remember the whole Pentium 60 Math calculations fiasco??

Sorry guys i meant my very first pentium (thats my story and im sticking to it ok! :) )

The firt one I built....
That's goin back a ways

Letsee if I remember it all....

Cyrix PR166
Unknown MB :?
32Mb EDO
S3 Virge DX 4Mb Pci
3.2Gb HD
Second hand 15" CRT
Cheapist case/PSU/sound card my money could buy!

Yeah...
It was a real beast

LOL I had that utility too!! I would put the CPU in normal mode (4.77 Mhz), and then again at Turbo speed. 9.4 Mhz rounded up to 10 and boy did the mips go through the roof.

Think I still have a copy of the utility, only pimped for tradeshows where it would have colored bars comparing the test rig to various standard rigs such as the IBM PC AT, Compaq 386, etc. So if some vendor had a real beast to demo :) everybody could see his specs from across the room.

Well that depends. EDO came in 1/2/4/8 and up MB configurations.
With 4 slots on the mobo, then 32+16+8mb
EDO must be instaled in pairs.
Also 62=32+16+8+4+2 or a mainboard with 10 memory slots:
Two 16MB + two 8MB + two 4MB + two 2MB + two 1MB EDO modules. There is no such mainboard.
