Discussion What was your first gpu

I built my first (and current) PC only just a year ago, but I have the XFX RX 5700 DD Ultra 8GB GDDR6. Runs great, without having to pay maxed out 20 series Nvidia card prices! The 30 series prices surprised me though, and with AMD's 60 series showing only a small difference, I may switch sides depending on how things go the next few years.

My first computer (Commodore Amiga 500 in 1988) was a GPU in itself... a state of the art media gaming machine.

My first actual GPU that I recall was a GeForce 3 Ti 200 I built as part of my AMD Athlon XP 1800+ rig in 2001.

I probably forgot a bunch, I had an Oak Technologies 512kb card? There was an IBM XT but I think it was CGA?

Sound cards anyone? Adlib, Gravis Ultrasound? SB 16/32AWE?

The craptacular GT 610. Then I had a 1060 --> 2070 --> 3070.

I have yet to break into xx80 territory.

If you're talking video card in general, then the 2MB S3 card that came with my Dell XPS 133 in 1996. PCI slot.

My first 3D GPU, though, was the STB Velocity 128 - The Riva 128 GPU, with 4MB VRAM, PCI version, as my MB didn't have an AGP slot.. Cost me $179 back then, I wanna say late 1997 or early 1998?
