Hi, I'm kind of stressing over PC cabinets right now because of size constrains.

I have limited space on my computer table right now that I can't really hold atx PC cabinets longer than 16 inches in length, without a little extra poking out.
So I'm just wondering what the future of PC cases would be.I know its a difficult question to answer because of matx and different cases but in general will motherboards and gpu's reduce in size in the future?

What's your prediction for the size of PC's in the future? It seems like everything from smartphones to PC's just keep getting bigger and bigger.

Solution
I don't see there BEING any changes in the near or even long term future. The ATX case specification has been around since 1995, so 25 years, and I don't expect it to go away anytime soon. Since there are many other standard form factors such as micro ATX, mini ITX, mini ATX, Flex ATX, mini STX and MANY others including very tiny NUC boxes, I don't think anything is likely to change other than how many options might be available for users who wish to take advantage of some of the smaller, less common form factors which historically might not have had widespread support in terms of what you could get for them. That has been steadily improving with many companies specifically targeting those niche markets.

But as far as "in general", I...

But as far as "in general", I don't see a lot of change happening anytime soon. Certainly not anything that will make a significant shift to different form factors for mainstream gamers or enthusiasts.

You can still build a ballin ITX mini gaming pc.
It's just become harder, with both intel and nvidia making their chips consume alot of power, making you almost have to use full ATX psus, and have bigger coolers.

I don't think hardware will go up in size much more. the 3090 is massive, and I doubt nvidia will go any larger. (imagine a 4 slot card lol)
Intel also can't push the power consumption higher any longer, since chips will start requiring high end coolers, which is bad, and also they just can't have more heat in such a small space without making the motherboards die prematurly.

There aren't many mini sized new gpu's but zotac probably has something in the pipeline for maybe a short 2 slot 3090.

You can also have watercooling, which reduces any gpu to 1 slot, and leaves the cpu with only a thin block.

I just bought one of these:

If you're not wanting to go for the most uber, insane hardware, you can build computers that fit in something a little bigger than a shoebox that still kicks ass and takes names. Look into sub 15L mini ITX builds. Some of the more recommended cases can fit a 12" high-end card.
