What will happen if my monitor is 60hz but the game is going at 90hz?

What will happen if my monitor is 60hz but the game is going at 90hz? Will it skip frames or something? I don't know but i heard about this and im not sure if it was true or not.

You will most likely get screen tearing.

Vsync will cap you at your monitor's refresh rate.

You should upgrade from a GTX 1070 when you feel like it can no longer do the job you want. This is entirely dependent on your personal graphical/gaming preferences.

Considering the GTX 1070 can handle 1440p quite well, you'll have a few years.

But then again graphical fidelity can exponentially jump in the next year or two that will even make the GTX 1070 sweat.

This is a very difficult question to answer without having a crystal ball to tell the future.
