Hi all, thinking of upgrading my gpu which is 1660 super and runs everything on ultra and I’m very happy with the results on my sim racing. Currently running 3 monitors without a problem and when on single screen x3 resolution, all good.

But I would like to go one better and get a graphics card that has Rtx , other features that my current card doesn’t have.

What would be a good upgrade without breaking the bank?

many thanks

The 5800X is still good to pair with most video cards, but it depends on your budget and PSU specifics.

Regarding if graphics will be better with ray tracing or DLSS, I'll start with DLSS first. DLSS is more of a performance enhancer than a quality enhancer. It allows you to run higher quality graphics at a higher performance. Ray tracing can look better, but it's pretty subtle, maybe with the exception of reflections.

would the graphics be so much better with rtx and dlss?

Depends on where you live, 3070 Ti would be a huge jump from what you got now and it is very decent, cheaper than 3080.

In Australia for example, 3070 Ti already averaging $850-950 Aus dollars, while 3080 still averaging $1200-1300. The price difference between the two easily 30-40%, but performance differences? Not as much.

However, in the US, 3080 cost. 720-750 USD from good manufacturers and 3070 ti cost 620-650 USD. $70 more? i would indeed go for 3080 , if you can afford it of course.

If 3080 sounds very expensive? Then go for premium 3070, they cost 520-550 USD, $200 cheaper than 3080.

Still very expensive? Then go with 3060 Ti. You know the price, 450 usd easy.

If that is still too much, get yourself 6700xt, ain’t good for heavily ray traced game, but still a lot stronger than rtx 3060 which isn’t tood for heavily ray traced game either lol.

None above suits the budget? Do not upgrade.

But I am sure you must be able to afford either of those.

Seriously, just get whatever your budget allows. And try not to get the cheapest out of the card because often they run loud, cannot get undervolt or OC as much, which is boring, in general not all the time.

So my correct resolution is 1920x1080 60hz

I'm running three screens at 3325x1871 60hz on Assetto Corsa with Graphics to the max and using content manager to improve even further.

sometimes just using 1 monitor at 3840x2160 60hz

Psu is
GameMax RPG Rampage 850W Semi-Modular

Thanks

From a performance point of view, a RTX3050 is in the same class as a GTX1660 Super.
I would not make that simple change.
Look for something that would make a significant change.
Perhaps something in the RTX3070 class.
Actually, since you are performing well, you may not want to make any change now at all.
There are videos out there comparing the various graphics options like rtx.
Looking at them, I find the differences to be subtle.
But, you may be more picky.
